When your favorite producer calls and says “I have an idea and you’re the only editor I know who can pull it off”, the only logical response is to immediately demand first class airfare and luxury accommodations with unlimited dark roast and Nerds clusters.
I didn’t do any of those things, but I was so flattered that he could have told me we were flying to Antarctica to cut a feature on penguins surfing and I would have said yes. What we did was equally as ambitious.
I landed in Miami at about 6 pm eastern Wednesday, and by mid-day pacific on Saturday, we’d delivered an excellent 7-minute documentary for national airwaves. Shots were rolling in Saturday morning, but we still managed to deliver something special.
The idea was to give fans access to the Florida Freedom and defending PBR World Champion John Crimber as they geared up for their home weekend in the PBR Teams Series. These dudes are insane athletes, tough as nails, and have fanbases whose passion and commitment rivals any major pro sport in this country.
